Default RS gearbox question

The box in my S2 ERST has died on its arse and at the moment I dont have the money to get a recon box for it.
I was just wondering (and I know this is a bodge before anyone starts) if I could put an Mk2 XR2 box in it just so i can run it

Pls only post replys with advice, not really in the mood for piss takers at the moment

Cheers Matt

Yes mate it should drop straight in. Don't go giving it beans though as it may explode or as there is no LSD you may find one wheel will spin like mad while you sit there not moving

been using a standard non lsd box for six years now caning it most evry weekend , only picked up problems recently with thefitment of a 6 button copper clutch.
mate of mine uses above on a 1.8 zetec with gas and he reckons it will handle 300kw with a little care
