Help, reference Koni's please...
Right, i've got Koni's on the Series 1 with -25mm lowering springs, the lowering doesn't bother me as the car sits perfect.
What I think is wrong is the spring rate is far too hard, the car does tend to skip about on the road and there's barely any suspension travel at all! :? Can I change the spring's to something a little softer so the bloody thing actually handles and if so what? I've heard APT do some shithot 25mm springs, wanna enlighten me Christian? ;) Thanks :top: |
Just quickly mate and trying to teach you to suck eggs but if the dampers are adjustable have you tried adjusting them to the softests setting. Lost cound of how many people spend the cash to fit T/A's and then wind them up as solid as they go. Eibach are an excellent spring imho if you have this covered already

Not adjustable one's mate... :?
Don't worry about teaching me to suck eggs mate, it's my first RST! ;) Any advice welcome! What do you use btw? |
I've got a Spax Sprt kit that's been on the car for about 5 years now so probablyin need of replacing soon. Can't grumble about it though as it's done me proud

How hard is that though mate, I know you track your car but surely it doesn't skip about on the road and has some suspension travel!?

I find it odd that its that hard to be honest. As Oranoco says, try backing the shocks right off and see what that is like.
After that, the only factor can be springs. The ones I do are Cobra and lower the car by around 25-30mm. They are the best I have used. They handle superbly and suit an old-fart like me in terms of ride-quality. They are firm, but not over the top. My car is FULLY poly-bushed too, with Vibratechnics mounts etc, so if I say they are OK, remember thats on a car that is harsh for other reasons too!! So they must be good! :top: (£95 inc delivery BTW ;) ) |
As said mate, they're not adjustable one's otherwise i'd sort that out before asking lol ;)
Cobra are the one's I was thinking of, was sure it was you that stocked them, couldnt remember  What's the ETA on delivery for these mate? ;) Thanks for your help :top: Oh and one more thing  Will the Cobra springs fit my Koni shocks ok? |

Red koni's are also adjustable but you need to take them off push them all the way in and turn them.
|
OK dont all laugh and take the piss but will those Cobra springs be any good with standard shocks? (i know i know   )
|
They should be mate, but if ur shocks are std - how old are they?
|
Just a quick note, my supplier is currently awaiting stock of the Cobra springs and for now, orders are being sent directly from the European warehouse. This means that lead times will be around a week, but doesn't affect price to you.
Should be back to 1-2 day availability in the next couple of weeks. :top: |

On the assumption the standard shocks are good will they perform alright, ive seen far too many cars lowered on standard shocks and they looked as stable as a Citroen 2CV    |
