Hearts and diamonds ECU (90 spec)
Hi!
I've bought one of these "heart and diamond" ECU's for my 1988 S2 RST. On the label there is a heart, triangle and hash symbol. Is it true that they are able to run about 10 psi of boost? What boost are the other ECU's (those with coloured squares) capable of? Thanks Peter |
AFAIK the Heart/Triangle/Hash ECU is a very late one. As in, probably a replacement part.
Also, as far as I am aware, they are all limited to 10psi. |
as above ... all ERST ecus limited to 10psi#
:top: |
And BEFORE you even consider fitting it (if you are) get it checked first to make sure it's OK..............
|
the hearts and diamonds ecu's were fitted to all erst's after 89 and the over boost protection kicks in at 10.5 psi on all the ecu's.
early s2's did not not have a knock sensor so the hearts/diamonds ecu will be no good for one without the knock sensor |
Thanks for your answers! :top:
Is there any benefit fitting the hearts and diamonds ECU? My car does have a knock sensor. |
unless its chipped,,,,,,,, no!
|
my 1988 dont have a knock sensor, why does yours,my ecu id is blue white red,
:? |
like i said, some of the early ones didnt have a knock sensor! there was 3 types of ecu, blue, red and white, blue, red and black and hearts and diamonds, the later 2 had knock sensors

:? Your cars on an E yeah? SHOULD have a knock sensor, only really the D plates that didn't have them, unless yours is a very early E. Has it even got the plug? And does it have the secondary CTS? |
the early s1 ecus are the best without the knock sensor for power as they have more mapable points and the knock sensor is shite as it can kick in just for using a lairy cam and alike and retard your timing to fook  its more of pain than a gain
