blue plug comming of thermostat, fan control?

reason im asking is, on my mates new rs, it was disconected, we pulled up after a long drive and the water temp went straight into the red, as soon as i pluged that plug back in, the fans cut in,. the header tank has literaly exploded (oooopppppssss)

is it likely terminal engine damage may have occoured?

Nasty. Yes that is defo the fan control. The only reason I can think of for it being intentionall unplugged is that maybe the fan is controlled by an aftermarket controller. However, if you are saying that the fan came on when you plugged it in, then I would say that it was simply left off by someone or the plug is damaged.

Maybe a Head Gasket check is in order? :?

shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ive got the car cold now, all of the water pissed out of the top of the tank not the sides (tanks is still intact, just). if i get a new tank on her and fill her back up, is it likely shell be ok???

also, it does that 3 cylinder start up thing, where abouts is the cold start valve?

When you say water come out the top of the tank i take it you mean from the cap so you dont need a new tank if that one is still intact just fill it back up(to the max line) it should be fine if you've pluged the fan back in but as above check the head gasket. The coldstart valve is on the back of the inlet.
