RELAY I reckon, It is a Small Turbo AY? Wipac immobiliser??
Relay number 24, its yellow, swop it about see what happens, might be loose or got knocked about or something,
In the time being there is a multi plug beside the battery I think 3 wires go to it, one of them is the crank live to starter 9the other 2 are for reverse light switch), you can simply give this wire a live from the battery to crank...

Try it but you are running a VECTA, so may be different, see if the crank wire I mentioned goes LIVE on Cranking etc, try the giving it a live business see if cranks
Then take steering cowling off, trace wires, probably go to fuse box, and if you have that relay try "bridging" or replacing it, I believe there are other yellow relays the same in there....

voltage drop, thats why it works with a direct feed from battery
you need a relay fitted, near the starter with a feed from battery, using the old starter live as the relay switch on... or try a new starter
