try to do it when the tank is nearly empty, also check the cond of your tank straps before you do it as they could well be rotted and get a new locking ring/gasket ready for your pump

Is it the same sort of layout to a MK3 fiesta, IE getting to the pump form the back seats??

Lucky the feckers on fumes

right

you have 2 philips self tappers, bhenid the rear wheels, NOT the rivets, drill these out if they are rusted in place, buy 2 new screws and the tab things which slot onto the arch for the screws to go into

pop out the number plate lightunplug

lift boot carpet undo 4 13mm nuts securing bumper, lift it off, job done.

removing the bumper makes it easier to get tank down

behind the bumper there are 2 multiplugs, undo these, that way they wont snag when you drop the tank.

the easiest way to drain the tank is to remove the fuel return pipe in the engine bay from the metal pipe which runs under the car, you want the RED tab/collar hose, drop this into a can, start the car, as fuel flows through it will return to the can rather than tank ;) job done

have a look in tech essay archives there is a photo account on how to remove tank somewhere

IMO replace

4 self tappers and the tab things for rear bumper
2 long bolts and thier tab things holding tank straps
fuel filter
metal ring and rubber seal securing sender unity into tank,

BTW you cant do it without removing the tank unless you have a motorsport shell IIRC
