Can anyone help me please !!!

Friday night my gearbox let go, i have zero second gear and although the car still drives ok, its a bit loud and rattly !!

Only really want a standard jobbie as the car only sees daylight twice a month, all help appreciated.

PJMotorsport told me to try geartorque ? not tried them just yet but as im a Cossie novice, i didnt know if i could just replace the 2nd gear in mine rather than get a new box, but would probably be easier if i did !

you could try bernie the gearboxman who advertises on here he mite be able 2 sort it 4 you but at 430bhp your in the relms of needing an uprated box saying that tho ive a couple of friends you just buy ford boxs when they break theres they ave 1 every year both running 400 plus they just dont launch m8 cus thats when they break

Buy one from ford, ive just done it....You get a year warrenty with it £486 + VAT.

ryan, the one you got from ford, is that on an exchange basis? and how quitet/smooth is the box compared to say a recon box..?

It is exchange. They are reconditioned boxes.

Ford quoted me 571 all in (exchange), 1 years guarantee, geartorque quoted me 675 all in, but i might be better off rebuilding mine

so does the gurantee cover the lot , ie, if you pop it with 400hp again within 12 months..? or is it just on failure of componecnts like abearing collaping... ?

the gearbox itself is covered with a year gurantee, what that entails your gonna have to speak to ford for the details.

Cheers matey, the box is coming out tonight for some inspection, i have found a second hand 70k one thats 'apparently' perfect, for not a lot of money (175) so might pop that in tomorrow, i will give her a good wash and wax over the weekend and take some pics and put them up on here

Ok so now ford have told me its gonna be another 3/4 weeks before they get me my gearbox so fook that, im going somewhere else for it.

i bought 1 from ford and it cost me £430 was here in 2 days and it didnt come with transfer box

Thought that myself, my gearbox still isnt fitted yet but will be tomorrow hopefully, not that i think its going to last that long

Gearbox went in and .......its poo, so i have just ordered a new one from Fords

Mental note, if gearbox goes, dont mess about with crappy second hand ones, get a Ford one. 512.00 gbps all in

VERY strange, went to Ford today to get a price on such a gearbox for my Escort Cossie just to know.

Not available, only available with complete block --> cost € 5700

I called my local Fords today, ''no problem'' they said, ''we'll have it in tomorrow'', so i popped down there, paid them the readies, get back to work only to receive a call, ''sorry sir, the gearboxes are on back order and wont be with you for 10 friggin days'' aaah this is driving me mental, still, at least it should be ok once it gets here

Will cost me £1230 without the transfer box

Would be cheaper to buy AND collect one in the UK

I hate SMC Ford.

I was told my box would be 2 days, then i was told 18th August, then i was told 28th August, now i have just come back from getting a full refund as they have told em they just cannot tell me when they can get one, great bloody service huh.

My car has been off the road now for 5 weeks with this problem and after its done, the car will be sold, im off to Evo land again.
