CV Boot Renewal Procedure??
Does anyone know if there's any way to replace an outer CV boot without having to disturb the bottom arm? The reason I'm asking is because I've just replaced the bottom arm on the n/s and it turned out to be a bit of a nightmare to be honest getting the new one back into it's correct position! It is under that much tension from the Anti-Roll bar that it takes an hurrendous amount if leveredge to line up right again!
Unfortunately I now need to replace the outer CV Boot on the o/s and a quick look would tell me that at least one fixing point on the bottom arm needs to be released If anyone know's of any "less stressful" methods I'd be extremely grateful to hear them?? Please, don't make me go through all that AGAIN at the other side this time

undo the arb from the chassis
undo the inner tca bolts
undo the tca to arb nut
you should be able to swing the tca off the end of the arb without having to crack the bottom ball joint
then you just HEAVE and the driveshaft will pop out of the speedo housing
you can then twist away to your hearts content trying to unclip the circlip holding it in place and then change both inner and out cv's at the same time

Excellent cheers for your advice Mate, much appreciated I'll be giving that a try and yeah I know exactly what you mean when you say about needing a ratchet strap to pull things back into place, for the other side we ended up using our engine hoist! Same method, just a different tool for the job! Thanks again for your help

if you leave everything but the inner tca bolt till last, you can wrap the ratchet strap around the ends of the arb and pull it al together, but sometimes it seems that it's all going to go "PING" in a hurry
one thing to mention though is that you should leave the bolts/nuts slitghly loose until the vehicle is back on the ground
then give it a few feet backwards and forwards to settle all the bushes before tightening up
if you tighten everything up with the car in the air, the bushes wil be under even more stress than usual when they are at the normal position
