Door Locks..
I discovered something strange today... I can lock my car using my escort van key 
It wont open the car, only lock it.. Is this normal?

yep especially when you buy acar that has a mismatch of locks/keys, and you think o this is the one that locks the drivers door - cool, then find there isnt ANY key that unlocks it
