Don't know if physically the turbo will bolt on, but the eec-iv management doesn't know how the air gets into the engine (or even need to know) as it measures mass of air going in so no problems there. One possible problem would be that you may need to reduce boost pressure to compensate for the greater flow of air.

i'am sure the down pipe bolt hole diameter are different[the 3 studs]
i made a plate and elongated the hole's for both t34 and t28

i have a roller bearing t34 with a 48ar and wounder the same as i have
a small turbo my self

i think it will throw your ecu out as it mapped for a small turbo
a 2wd turbo is near the spec of the t28 my be able to use some thing like that

my 620ti run's a ecu like the ford st model can't do anything with it
but i put a hks injector controller on it and now run 8 injector's.
that was the way i got around for more fuel. that could work on
the cossy as well but i have'nt done it on the cossy

the flange is the same it will fit your manifold but the spacing
of the bolt's on the down pipe are different i had to elongate mine.why not put a
sunny gtir unit on as that has a bigger comp housing pick them
up for Ł200 and i'am sure it will fit the small turbo turbine housing

i will have a look in to it my self

You shouldn't have a problem with the ecu as it doesn't know what turbo is fitted, in open loop mode it uses load vs rpm to determine desired air fuel ratio and a bigger turbo will just mean as differing load figure at various rpms.
