Help please wont rev past 4k
Could someone please help, sometime ago I asked about my car not revving past 4k, a few people suggested it was in limp home mode due to the lamda sensor being connected. I got a new, but the car went straight in for a respray, and now I've finally put it in it's still doing it. Any thoughts please, could I have to disconnect end reconnect the ecu maybe. I just dont know.
Thanks
Thanks

Well let me stop you all there!
Mine did exactly the same a week ago, its the ECU going into limp mode.
We replaced nearly all the sensors & was going to replace the Lambda when Grove & ahmed realised what it was!!!!!!!!
Part of the loom has a multi plug by the N/S headlight which corrodes over time & fails, so they had to basicly bullet connect & shrink wrap over 20 wires together. This sorted it out!!
They had my ECU plugged into AB's laptop & couldn't work it out until Mark went & wiggled that part of the loom!
Its meant to be a common fault with most escorts (so they said) And most have had this repair done.
Does it do it once warm, as mine was fine on start up etc, but once she got warmed up then it begain playing up! As i say we was going to change the Lambda sensor............Thank god they didn't!

Have to totally agree with Franco, once my engine was in, it wouldnt rev past about 3k and sounded very very ill. We tried everthing as we all do and still the same, then we discovered a wire which was nearly completely corroded by the coil, fixed that and off she went

yes, everybody knows this world is'nt perfect, but this help to find where the problem should be. so you should start by this, check the sensor when possible, (very easy for ACT and ECT as they share the same kind of resistor and @20°C(engine cold so) you should read the same value for both) and then look to the harness of this sensor and finally check all connections (especialy the ones known to be weak). that's the correct way to do it m8!

has it just started it for no reason, or has some work just been done on the car... anything that might have disturbed some cruddy connections,
i ended up (one at a time) chopping out the multiplugs near the headlight, soldering them together and heatshrinking them beofre taping them all back up in the loom.

I'm off on holiday the weekend, but I'm hoping to get some time to my self Friday so I'll gave that a go Friday if I can, I would like to go away with it working and not be thinking about it while I'm away. Thanks for all your input, one thing that concerns me about the multiplugs, is that I've had the car 3 1/2 years and it's lived indoors, why would it happen now? Although they have been apart and had conductive gel put in them, or some waterproofing gel, something like that when it started playing up.

Take care if you wanna put so conductor past or whatsoever in the head loom multiplug since another common problem with it is that the pins sometimes slide backward inside the plug so after connecting the plugs together check the pins one by one from behind to see if they look in place...

Mine did the same thing after a service.
Turned out they put new plugs in with a standard gap, being 370 bhp i reduced the gap to 0.6 and away she went.
Then i to found she was starting to splutter under full load.
this was due to a fooked coil cap, sorted that and now goes spot on.
