i seem to recall that pinto shafts are a diff diameter to cossy ones - you aint bought the wrong one have you?
other possibility is a worn bearing in the block. a good one shouldn't have any play in the bearing which is oil fed otherwise you will likeley have very low crank oil pressure as oil will escape at this bearing
