Doing away with air injectors
Hi
Is it possible to do away with the air injector set-up and go external gate with an electronic boost controller if an aftermarket ECU is used? Thanks |
Yes.
But depending on the ecu features you may not need an external electronic boost controller. You can just use a solenoid run by a mappable signal from the ecu. What ecu you looking at? |

I run an apexi avcr on my Westie because it gives me boost mappable to gear, rpm, road speed or throttle position.
Internal gate Gt3076 and still running L8 at the mo. Only downside is the ecu cannot dial down boost when other conditions are out of certain parameters such as air charge temp, knock etc. your Weber-marelli ecu controlled air injectors are actually safer than an electronic boost controller for that reason. That said the avcr is a great piece of kit and controls boost perfectly. If I go standalone ecu I may still use it but build in over riding safety features. Edited to add: If I had of had these safeties built in previously I wouldn't be rebuilding a melted pistoned engine now! |

Hi Mark, do many of your builds use closed loop wideband fuelling control or do you rely on safety margins on mapping boost, ignition and fuelling.
