Loose distributor

Is there a nut holding this from moving,
and I believe the sensor connector should be around the5 o'clock position....

And would this change timing? If it wasn't exactly in the right place?

Set crank pulley to tdc, then check rotor arm is through/ in line with the notch, .... Is this right? And how do I get the distributor spot on?

Iirc there is just a bolt and plate at the side of the dizzy housing into the block that lock it in place. You are setting tdc to the groove on the crank pulley not the CPS lug?

If the crank is at tdc , and the distributor moves this will affect timing, won't it?..... The spark won't happen exactly when it needs to?

So, do you set the dizzy up with crank at tdc then if timing needs tweaking do it from the crank
