Escort Cos on 16's, 17's or 18's ?????

Do Escort Cosworths handle better on 17's or 18's? please comment if your on std wheels too please :top:

Bit of a long winded one

When I got my esc I had 330mm brakes to go on it so I changed the std wheels off it straight away so didn't get the chance to drive it on the std 16's so don't know :wall: and I've never had a car on 18" wheels before

I can't put the std wheels back on so I'm thinking of getting some 8x17's for the car as I've always felt when driving it the 8x18" i had previously and the 9x18" wheels I have now feel too big and are dulling the feedback and fighting the steering wheel when turning IMO :?

The only thing is everyone uses 8x18 on track and road and that leaves me undecided if I go down to 17"s I'm gonna have ground clearance issues but if it handles better I'll deal with the probs

What do you lot think?

They feel best on 16s if you want to go bigger get the lightest you can, not the big heavy type most go for with all that rotational weight they have.

not the same BUT I had 15's 16's and 17's on my sierra 3dr and the car turned in/steered/handled/drove/accelerated best on the 16's

Cheers :top:I can't put 16's on because of the brakes but I've got lightweight 18's and it feels odd I can only compare the feeling to holding a spinning cycle wheel and turning it off axis :?

I had the same on the saff and 15's moved around a bit too much and spun up all the time 17's were better than 15's but cheaper than 16" tyres:cry:

I'm hoping for 8x17's to be the best compromise.

Yes it is and more weight and the worse it will be, what is the weight of the wheel without tyre, Most Evo wheels we find are about 8kg.

Fuck thats light  what make are they?

Mine are 17kg without the tyre which I thought was reasonable considering the std 16 wheels are 20kg IIRC

I saw and held above my head the Dymag carbon 3 piece rim at the NEC last year 4K a set though  must be the lightest wheel ever!

te37's SSR's etc are all round the 9k mark its just the ford stuff the weighs loads and increases the unsprung weight :(

I'm thinking OZ racing wheels possibly.

Anybody got any pics of esc on 17's?
