Default Charge Air Sensor

I've noticed that my SECS gauge is showing the charge air temp is constantly changing from about 14 deg to -40 deg when i put the ignition its like a random number generator !

I assume my sensor needs changing ?? all the connections seem to be ok ....

is that purely with the ignition on but not with the engine running?

what does the air temp show on steady tickover and then driving?

With the ignition on and engine running too, mainly stays on -40 but does sometimes switch to other figures.

Bought a new one so hopefully that will sort the problem out.....

Could also be the wiring as this goes brittle with age and breaks, so replacing the sensor might not cure it and you may have to renew some of the cable.
