Okay, so the Chancellor's having a go at the big producers of CO2 on his budget, ie stuff that that emit more than 255g of carbon dioxide per kilometre.

The question is, is that just for new cars or is he going to take aim at older cars too?

& if so, what do our cars produce?

Anybody got any figures - ie, for standard cars, big turbo & small turbo?

I did hear on radio 4 that it was for cars after 2010, it is really going to deter them isn't it!!
Can you imagine guy walks into a a showroom to buy a lambo, and decides not to because of £1K tax, oh just for the first year, it drops consequetively after that.
Another government spin to appease the muppets in greenpeace etc, not forgetting that MP's can claim it back either.

This only affects cars made after March 2001. The CO figures for cars made before that are not available in many cases so they stick with the old system.

The new prices are

Anything up to 1559cc - £120
Anything over 1559cc - £200

I'm not sure when these changes take effect though - it might be next year.

Glad I've not got a Focus ST or RS - the tax must be a fortune on those now.
