Mallard green was only used on escort cosworths, the colour on the fiesta & escort is tour mallard which kinda looks the same, go to spraystore they will be able to get you the colour no problem

As above it was only available on Escort Cosworths, if mine wasn't in the carcoon I would nip out and see, from what I remember it' B space something (2 maybe?)
so on the plate it is B 2
Not much help unless this is one of the paint codes you have....then bingo

Me and a Mate of mine both have 92K plate Mallard Green Escy's

Both have had a respray in the past few years, and both are a different shade of Mallard Green.

His is darker, and less "purply" on the flip, while mine is lighter, with more purple on the flip.

So, which one is the correct colour then????

ok, this is becoming even more confusing lol

paint stores dont seem to be able to tell me which is the lighter or darker shade

basically, i wish to respray my escort rs turbo in the lighter shade of mallard green, this shade to be exact:

the codes are as follows:

L
43/L/L4/Y2/4/42
Y2
4/42/43/L/L4/Y2
42/43/L/L4/Y2/4
XSC2683C
L4

so i guess the easiest way to decide which is the darker and which is the lighter would be for people to look at that pic, decide if theirs is that bright metallic as opposed to the much darker more purple shade, and then take it from there

so, any takers? sorry to be a nuisance, but this is bugging me now as i cant buy paint to finish the project!!

Right did a bit of digging in old pics and had a super hi res one of my engine bay, so I zoomed in and it's............

4 2 not B 2 as I stated earlier, mine is the lighter purpley shade as Paul says.

cheers guys, you've been a great help

matcos, looking through your resto thread, especially the super shiny engine bay bits, that is the exact colour i want, so i will go with the 4 2 code

this is also the colour im after, as even on a dull day you can see its the lighter brighter shade, so big thanks for digging that pic out for us paul

got a mate who has started doing mobile paint repairs coming out, so we will mix up a small amount of 4 2 coded paint, and test spray some, and fingers crossed get the right outcome

altho im expecting it to come out aubergine now with how confusing this is becoming

On the slam panel there is a painted vin plate on the right hand side with loads of numbers on, take a pic and send it to me

This what I love about mallard, whilst its quite attractive in normal light in bright sunshine the colour is awesome.

Fast Ford did a awesome pic of Mats car which is the best pic I've ever seen of Mallard doing its flip thing.. post it up mat

No lie a mate of mine came around my house during last summer whilst I was mucking about with it outside and started taking the piss as he thought I had resprayed it purple
