What suspension set ups, do you have

Hi people,

Just wondering what sort of suspensions set up people have fitted to there Escort's, and what they have found.

My cossie has been stood for the past 7 years and well the Koni suspension is a little well just fooked.
Would like to see what people havesaid about coilovers and so forth.

I do not intend to use the car on the track and it will only be fast road use, but i live in devon and we have some very fast roads with terrific bends.

Regards

Gareth

front and rear Anti rollbars nylon bushed.
6 degree rose jointed rear beam (solid mounted).
triangulated/welded rear strut brace.
front strut brace.
6 point roll cage.

and at some point soon - chassis strengthening bars (Danny B)

think thats about it, cant comment on its handlng at this stage but im hoping it will do alot better than how it was before it came off the road. :D

I merely have some 35 mm lower Eibach springs on std shocks & have 20mm spacers all round behind the std wheels with some more spacers behind the rear hubs to correct the toe-in.

Works very well, also in Devon I'm happy to say.

Does, however, tend to spread mud up the side of the car.

Actually, quite a lot of mud.

Best not to drive with the window down in fact.

Tony, i do like your description - good old aircon instead for you then ;)

german tony 24-09-2007 09:54 PM

Kelv, show us some pics of your rear strut brace please mate :top: . Also, what top mounts are you using? I take it your car is stripped? is it a Zoo rear beam as well?

The DIVA 25-09-2007 10:28 PM

909 Bilstein group A coilovers in custom cases.
Modified Peugeot 205 eccentric mounts with Goldman rose joints.
Extended adjustable bottom arms for 20mm per side wide track.
Modified steering rack.
Modified compression struts.
Zoo Motorsport 6 degree rear beam with uprated motorsport rose joints.
Adjustable rear strut brace
"WRC" style bladed anti roll bars front and rear.

God knows how it will handle once it`s all finished........may be a little stiff for the road though...

More adjustment than the cossie ones mate....I run wide track front but didn`t want to cut the strut tops off the inner wing so this idea was the best compromise... :top:

Bilstein all round with coilovers at the front (was told is the group N setup, whatever that means :? ), a little stiff for my liking, going back to good old normal setup soon :D

I'm gonna be running over the next month or so :-

front adj top mounts (new design)
ring spec suspension
polybushed
adj frnt arms
ahmed adj 2WD beam
weld in rear strut brace
danny B chassis bars

IMO best fast road spec all these solid mounts, compression struts etc will make the car too stiff for the road..

Adjustable eccentric top mounts from R&B Motorsport
MEF Motorsport Adjustable rose jointed Track Control Arms
Top spec Zoo rear beam with uprated motorsport rose joints
Updated Rear diff hanger from R&B Motorsport
Rear strut Brace that ties in the rear diff from adrenaline race and performance
Frame connectors from adrenaline race and performance
Front strut brace
Updated Polly bushes

All thats left to get is a Cage :DD:
