Default probs with missing at 3500-4k

a mate has just bought a small turbo esc,and it has a bad miss kind of like a boost cut at 3500k to 4.the car is completely standard and this prob is annoying.
what could it be? i thought maybe cps or maybe wastegate door causing probs?

coil packs are problems on these small turbo modles.
Or the two large engine wireing conectors by the power steering pump. they get damp and corode and cause all sorts of running probs

I'd recommend taking it to a tuner that has a rolling road & knows about cosworths etc, could save you lots of money changing bits that don't fix the problem.

Could be an actuator problem as well. Mate had a really bad miss on his 4x4 sapph at around the same rev range, turned out to be a duff actuator.
