I couldn't afford to buy what I really wanted, so I bought the escort 5 or so years ago. I loved it sooo much, I bought another. Now I can afford to buy what I always wanted, I'm selling up (Blue one only) to buy it.

a wanted a 3 door but decided if a was spending serious money on a 3 door was better just putting the odds to it and buying a escort and not as likely to get banned in a 4wd escort

Never really liked them that much, always liked RWD cars so Escorts were off the radar, had a 2wd saff when I was 19, blew it up ,and its been sat for 7 years collecting bits for a monster power project. Got another 2wd saff 360bhp RWD a few years later, crashed that being a tit , olny minor damage but the body work was rough so I p/x'ed it with a mate for a high spec 4x4 saff (500BHP ) with a fucked gearbox.

I spent 6 months in the Falklands as I am in the RAF, I had about 2 weeks left to go before I came home, and browsing the forums one night ( bored shitless so I was on page 6 of cars for sale ) I found a small turbo in blackpool with major electrical probs, and the lad wanted 8k for it- My 2wd saff project had sat for so long that the bodywork is fucked anyway, so rarther than spend 2k doing up a saff, I thought buy the escort and rip it to bits, sell all the namby pamby 4x4 shit and the wank small turbo engine, then RWD the fucker and stick my 550BHP engine and all my good AP brakes/ billies etc into it.

Unfortunatly the lad fucked me around somthing chronic , even though I had agreed a deal with him- he backed out and pissed me off. I then went through the options of buying a shell and building it up, but it worked out so expensive it was just not worth doing, so I decided to buy a working car and work break it to get me the trimmed rolling shell.

I found a 1996 Small turbo lux on Ebay for 9k starting bid, and watched it for 7 days, yet no one put a single bid in , so with 2 hours left on the auction I arranged a viewing, and drove from brum to leeds the next day - Car was absolutly mint, FSH, leather, morrettes, konis, grooved discs etc, and so I let the lad take me for a test drive in it. The car was awsome, and drove faultlessly, so I was going to pay him the 9k asking price, but when we got back to his house, I asked him to leave it running to see the fans cut in and out. He did, but after 5 mins it started to pop and bang, and run really rough. I checked what I could for him, but could find nothing wrong, but it still refused to run right. I was worried that somthing major was wrong, and told the lad to take it to a specialist and find out what was wrong, as it could be a Ł10 sensor, or worst case somthing major like the headgasket , which is the best part of Ł1000 get done somwhere good. I was going to offer Ł8500 which I thought was a fair price, but the lad said that he needed it gone, and would I buy it at 8k?? . As I was going to strip it anyway, I agreed. Bought the car a week later, and drove it home.

Turns out the multi-plugs in the engine bay were corroded, so a clean and cable tie later I had my 8K escort cossie

And thats when I actually fell in love with the small turbo and 4x4, and decided to keep it 4x4 and not RWD it- I used to always take the piss out of small turbo escorts, and People slag the ST escos, but it is so nice to drive it is unbelivable , as it drove sooooo nicely compared to a laggy cammy 2wd saff on a T34.63 ..

And now , I have just stripped the engine for a big power build and bought lots of expensive 4x4 tranny parts

So you could say I am converterd, but I still love RWD as well

never really paid much attention to the Escos. A couple of my mates bought some Maserati Gran Sport, 996 C4S, E46 M3 and so on, and started to piss me off. Being skint, it's quite obvious what the solution is, and the Escos is the only cheap cheap option with some street creds. I'll never forget their faces when I pull pass them on the highway

I really bought mine on a wim, i have always loved the fun factor in my RWD sapph, But have always loved the look of the escos but the 4wd put me off a bit, so i decided one day to go and look at one have a drive and see what i thought and OMG i loved it !! deposit down within 10 mins ..lol.

I much prefer the Escos now, so much so the saph is going soon to make way for more mods

I still love the 2wd and 4x4 Sierra's, but for pure agressive look the escos wins hands down..

And it has a great rallying pedigree to go with it...

I`ve always been a total cossie nut since they first came out, bought a 3 door back in 1987 when they were still new.. ...and owned them on and off ever since...Escos was always something i hankered after building but never got round to it,just bought and sold a few and never really got attached to them.....

This one came up by accident as a trimmed shell(Went to North Yorks Rs Spares for a cuppa.. )and lo and behold,i have now spent the Ethiopian National Debt building the fooking thing... .............I was thinking of breaking it recently and buying a 911 but the cossie addiction is just too strong and everytime i go in the garage and take the cover off it i just end up gooey eyed all over again and realise i do actually love the fooking thing...

I bought mine bacause there were no Imprezas avaliable at the price range (Escos here is actually far cheaper then Impreza). It was still a homologation special. Unfortunately this was the worst buy I ever made. Still after some years all the repairs and rebuilds look like coming to an end. We'll see what happens next. I don't really know if it's possible to maintain it in running condition al the time as parts are so scarce.

I think im like a lot of people and always saw it as a dream car. I still get a buzz getting in the car and even just poodling it down the road puts a big smile on my face. With all the cars I see on the road they dont tend to do anything for me but when I see the Escort I always say " That looks the bollox", how many car owners can still say that after owning it for over 5 years?. Would love to get another one really but the parts situation puts me off. Ill be looking at Evos and M3s but I dont think I will ever own a car that gives me as much as a buzz.

I was 15 when i first heard about an escort cosworth i was reading a mag about the prodigy and it said about what cars they drive it said liam howlett drove an escort cosworth so i said to my mate whats an escort cosworth i knew what an XR3I was and a escort turbo but i didnt know what a cossie looked like.

He said to me you wont see that many around but when i see one i will show you and sure enough about 2 weeks later there one was sitting at the traffic lights exhaust gurgling away that big spolier on the back that spolier on the front made things move in the boxer short department lol Lights went green he floored it and it was love at first sight.

From then on i brought mags with cossies just to find out information about them etc etc

Ive always wanted one and as everyone knows they cost quiet a bit of money which is a problem

I lost my mum in januray this year and she has left quiet a bit of money behind so i thought sod it you only live once and i have finally acheaved my dream

my mum always said SI if i had the money i would buy you one

Im not saying this replaces my mum as it dosnt i would give anything to have her back but im afraid its never going to happen. Its not the way that i wanted to acheave my dream but when somone can die from falling down the stairs it really brings home to you how short life is and how fragile your life is.

Stuffed my saff it was proper mint, thought after that I wouldn't find another one so clean and solid as I've seen so many 'mint' examples.

Always liked the esc's shape (and Nat didn't like 3drs at the time ) but disliked the 4x4 so I bought one and converted it

I have always loved fast street cars. Started with trimming an Audi A3 1.8T, but the dream was always getting one of the BIG SERIOUS ones, Escort Cosworth or a Supra. After trying Escos I was sure about my decission, it was going to be Escos! The best car you can think of handlig norwegian roads. My insurance company was of a different opinion and I had to wait for 5 years until everything was ready for getting my dream car. Now I have been a lucky owner of Escort Cosworth Wolf for 3 weeks and I love it more and more for every day. This one is going to be in my hands for years...

my first daliance with an rs was a 2wd 29 thou saph which i loved for the next ten years however as things broke and i got more and more pissed off with it i decided a total rebuild was in order so after i got all the bits together our lass asked why i didnt get one as i'd allways been on about wanting one so the hunt was on and since then i've spent a fortune on it but i dont seem to mind because i love it so much. Even to the point where we are moving house in 2 weeks(more money) so my garage is next to the house(sad i know but hey)

I remember a print rep had a black 3 door which looked absolutely stunning and this got me into Cosworths at the age of 17 but could never dream of owning one

in 94 I bought an Escort S2 which gave me the bug even further to eventually own an Escort Cossie, and finally in 2002 I bought my first Cossie L429 OJN sold it when my business was on shaky ground, and totally regretted the decision!!!

always wanted another had a 330 Ci, Scoob STi8 and then an Evo GSR, none of which ever came close to filling the void

so 6/7 months ago I decided the only solution was to get another, so I did and I love it I never ever ever get tired of looking at the old girl

Escort Cosworths......i was 21 when they came out and alls i did was , my old man had a saff at the time (lawnsys off this site) and within 3 years of them coming out my old man bought one which he still owns now with 40,000 on the clock, again, dream car for me, i had a S1 RS turbo in 1995 when he bought the ESCOS sold that for a saff in 1998 then sold that for my ESCOS in 2005, took me a while to get me own but with buying houses at the time just couldn't afford the price tag of the ESCOS .....they are just awesome, everything about the exterior of em was just way ahead of it's time and to be honest theres being nothing really since the ESCOS (unless you're talking big money) that's ever come close to it as a standard car from factory.....i do get pissed off with mine now and again and consider selling it, then i take a long hard look at it and think.....will i regret opening the garage door and not seeing it there, not being able to just jump in it and go for a play up the A50 or the A500, and i always come to the same conclusion..... i love the fookin thing, its ace a dream come true for me and many others i suppose, mine's staying with me for quite a while.....

PS thanks pete it was a good buy.. top bloke...

Since I can read i've been a HUGE ford-fan.

When ford launched the Escort Cosworth in 1992 i've said to my parents: "one day I will own one"

I was 8 yrs old at that time, it the looks are superb, stunning performance (for that time) , and it was a rally-car....

And the desire to buy one became larger when I visit some rally with my dad and causin. The sound and looks of the Cossies was awesome!

An now 15 yrs later ...I have one! I'm 23 yrs old, some will say it's to young for someone from my age, but who cares??? I treat the car just like a baby!

I love them, I've owned a lot of Ford's but this is my dream car! Everyday when I see my EsCos, I think back to the time they launched it in 1992.

Most people from my age drive Civic's, Astra's, Golf's etc. But not for me! ONLY ford's and especially Cosworth's or RWD Escort's !

I'm a happy man

Originally (And a part of me still wants one) wanted a White 3 Door Cosworth (Not particually a 500) when I was a lad, used to have a Matchbox car of one, loved it and watchin them rallyin on tele too. Wanted a ECossy ever since I drove a friends, then when Martin got one it made me more determined to have one. The opportunity came and I have finally got me one. Everytime I wash it I have to stand back and admire it, still can't believe I own one

a bit of a dream car for me, a few years back i had some spare cash and as i work for vauxhall, i orderd a new Astra GSI ( before they where in the show rooms ) when it turned up and i took it for a blast, i was disapointed with it and canceled it. ( the sales man was propa pissed !! , it was sitting outside the showroom ticking and smoking from the glowing brakes and exhaust !!! )

anyway, i still had the cash, ( 15k ) so looked at evo`s and scobies ( as you do ) when i see a few Escorts for sale in my price range.. job done !!!
looked into them a bit and thought they was cheeper to maintain / tune ( so i thought !! )

now i can`t look back, evey bit of the car is perfect ( wish ford made the gearbox / trans better )

can`t put a price on the feeling these cars give you

When I was 12 in 1985 I used to love Capris, then a teacher at my school got a S1 RS Turbo and I thought wow!
Ever since that day I wanted a mk3 Escort. My best mate got a XR3 and I so wanted it, sunburst red with butterflys...
My first car was a 1.1 Fiesta and I liked them so I ended up getting a MK1 XR2 when I was 20. I've still got one on the go now.
Was working one day about 3 yrs ago when I walked past a showroom and seen a Sierra Cosworth 4x4 right at the back of the showroom.
Went in and the guy told me it wasnt for sale and after about 3 months haggling I bought it. Used it for 6 months then decided to do the head gasket on it.
Had an accident in work and badly damaged my hand so didn't even go in the garage for 6 months. Fell out of bed with it being a sausage in my garage so sold it as it was to a couple of dodgy looking characters from here
Went out and got a 2001 WRX which is great. Had it tuned at Scoobyteknixs and I love it.
I was going to get an STi but I'm fed up of losing so much money on cars so I decided to go for the Escort primarily cos of its looks (Comps are the nish!) but also cos it wont depreciate. Fortunately its not an every day user so not to bothered about reliability or practicality.
I wouldn't say its a great drive but it is the daddy!

Life story over....

Bought the esc cos for looks!

Had a Sapphire I really did love, traded it in for an esc cos as they where my absolute dreamcar, but regretted my choice from very first minute, despite even converting the esc cos to 2wd I never really liked it, so traded it in as a rolling shell for a 3door. never looked back!

Still love the looks of an esc cos, so the fact that my neighbour has one is just perfect for me
