Q plate Escos cost?
Hi all
I've been offered a Q plate big turbo for 7K; is this a good price? Also, would the Q plate put people off too much? AFAIK it's a recovered ringer, with 58K on the clock, standard engine and a set of 18" Khans. Really tempted if the price is a good 'un! |
I'd buy it for 7k mate, as long as it's not fucked :DD:
|
Of course you would, you already have a built up one  ;) :blabla: :blabla:

I have had my Qplate 96 model for nearly 4 years now and i would think carefully before buying,no matter how good the car is a Q plate on an escos is a bit of a stigma,if you do buy,do as i did and drive it every day and enjoy it

Wouldnt bother me it being on a Q plate.
once had a Q plate Black 3door cossie and never had any problems with the car or even when it came to selling it on again. Another way to look at it is 7k is damn cheap for an escort cosworth, if you ever struggled to sell it on in the future you could always break it, you would make a killing on it profit wise so you will never be out of pocket!! :top: |
If its in reasonable condition its worth £7k all day long even if it is a Q plate. Ive never bought a Q plate and ive never even considered it to be honest but theres plenty of people who dont mind. Yes it may be worth half the value but as they say if you buy it cheap you can sell it cheap. As said, its a no brainer really if its in good condition as it will break for more. :)

Cheers for your thoughts guys.
I suppose the thing that's really putting me off is the circumstances surrounding why the car has come to be on a Q plate, i.e. it's a ringer that's been cleared by plod/DVLA; meaning some poor buggers had theirs nicked at some point  Will give the insurance company a ring in the morning for a quote and see where I go from there. |

At least im not scared to drive mine :gay:   |
Q=questionable.
i reckon you look harder than you have ever looked before, some q platers have been bent rung chopped and then some more. on the other hand it could be built out of new parts etc i have seen q plates and they don't even say cosworth, although my mate had one and it was Cosworth on the v5 :DD: |
Mines a Cat D. Doesn't bother me, its a lovely car. It was stolen then recovered in same condition about 1 year later apparently in a lock up. So insurance company paid out as a loss.
I wish I could get this lifted from the records...any ideas? |

No, not at all. Its still on a "P" plate.
Just be nice to have the Cat D lifted. |
I'd say give it a massive check over for repairs etc (maybe even one of the AA type checks) and go for it. The much cheapness price tag far outways any daft Q plate stigma in my eyes. :DD:

I think Q platers are quite difficult/expensive to insure which is odd because they are obviously worse less than normal plate cars...
