Please show me pics of your Red/White Cossis (real/reps)

Right im after a new car and ive wanted a escort cosworth since ive been little but as im only 18 i cannot afford one due to not being able to get insured, i can buy the car just not the insurance !! :wall:

Well this wont put me off, im going to get a replica. Yes its never going to be a cossi without the engine but my plane is to get a xr3i marke it rear wheeld drive and tune the engine to make it decent.

Now im going to buy the replica already dont and just tune the engine and make it rwd and tune the engine. and clean up one what already has a cossi kit,

Now the best examples are normaly red/white so i just want to see red and white cossis so i know what can be done to them

thanks matty

got to carry on lucking now lol

and i think we all know there r.....e..........

plicas! hahaa :blabla:

McGoo 69 08-04-2007 10:21 PM

quite like this wolf one in white at the bottom of the page

http://www.ford-escort-cosworth.com/...ation_WOLF.htm

might suit a rep better as it doesnt have a whale tail. A whale tale is like the part of the ecos what makes it a cosworth

without the tail it wont screem out much so will suit a rep ;)

Mate, don't take this the wrong way, but save your time money and image. If you do what you plan to do, it will cost you a fortune, insurance will be just as bad as a real one if not worse as its a heavily modded car, and you will never see a decent return for your money, PLUS you will always get people asking if its a real one etc then having to say no its a rep etc.......

Stick your cash in a high interest savings account or some other form of investment, get yourself a cheap quick fun car, MK2 escort is always a winner ;) , and build a few years NCB's up. Then when you hit 21, you will have a bigger wedge of cash to buy your dream car, and you should ( if you havn't driven like a prune ;) ) have approx 3 years NCB's, which will make an escort cossie a viable , if expensive option :top: .

You will spend just as much on a half decent rep and doing the conversion you want, and STILL not have half the car you could if you saved a bit :top: ...

Just MHO of course

I agree with Will there to be honest the only replica's that have any real cred are AC Cobra's and GT40's IMHO.

zoober 11-04-2007 12:39 PM

maybe hes not after street cred, ive debated it b4 and i say go for it.

its the look of the car he likes and wants that look without the premiums, cant cost that much if u know the right people and get help.

i say go for it and spend a load on it, it will last u three or 4 years until your ready buy the ral thing.

i intend on getting a replica to work on and to drive when im 18

Im not going to spend daft amounts on a replica but i want a mint example. This is why im going to buy one what half done for around £2k and just finish it off.

2k for a half decent rep
1k to get it looking reasonable
1k for tuning the engine
2k+ EASY if you go RWD with it
1K for all the bits you didn't think about before starting ;)

there's 7k towards the real thing already, I picked my N reg Lux ash black T25 up with FSH for 8k ;) , another mate of mine got his for £8300, big turbo, pacifica, IMHO you are wasting your cash mate. If a rep is what you have got your heart set on, then go for it no one can decide but you, but its sooooo easy to throw money at a project that ultimatly won't be quite %100 what you want........

If you are dead set on a nice car for your 1st motor, bearing in mind the insurance on a rep will be steep as well, why not think about an RS1800 fiesta, or an RS 2000 Mk 5/6 ? RS quality drive and go for less than £1500 for a very very tidy example ;)

saying that i didnt see the bit about conv to rwd, thats 1 of the daftest ideas ive ever heard, unless your planning on actually dropping a cossie lump in, there for buy the origional thing.

lets be honest ur gona struggle wioth most cars on insurance, we know what its like nower days, so id go rep with a standard motor init,

wethert its a 1.3 or a xr3i they will both sound shit and go like shit so in my eyes wouldnt bother with the xr3i motor.

i wish u luck with whatever u do anyway

dave

AndyBrew 12-04-2007 11:05 AM

Personally I'd go for a RS1800 fezza, nice cars very rare and if looked after won't depreciate, or if you like old school RS1600i very nice motor or even older school a RS2000 MK2 escort :top: :top:

A rep costs a hell of a lot more than a std xr3i/ 1.6 si etc to insure do to the increased likelyhood of theft and due to it being modded ;)

zoober 13-04-2007 07:00 AM

yeh i see your point. but there are some insurance companys that will allow you a body kit inclusive at no extra charge and engine mods, alloys, there for you dont have to mention cosworth, its justa 1.3 escort, bodykit, alloys, few mods.

cheap n cheerful
