overheating in traffic???
i have just noticed that when i was stuck in traffic for quite a while my temprature gauge was just creeping up a tiny bit but didnt go into the red but my other one i had never done this always fine all the time i have checked the coolant and its fine do you think it could be the radiator or something? all help appreciated

As said check fans are ok, then leave sitting in your drive until fans com on then go off, if they can do this it shows that they can dissiapte the heat generated, and so you will not overheat.
All guages are slightly different, trust your thermostat and rad switch a little more, if they are ok then it will be fine.

Check the plugs for the fans ..... sometimes they just have a bad connection. Clean and often they will work again ...
If not ... check if fans kick in when plugging them to a 12v source.
Can also check by putting a multi-meter on the plug and let the car heat up again if it doesn't read 12V at any point then there's no power going to the fans. (careful not to let the car get too overheated....)

Yes , short out the fan switch , bridge a wire over the sensor terminals and fans should come on , but think cosworths have a comm`mon problenm with burning the relays in the fuse box out .
Mines can sometimes move and not make the connection needed , have to jam a bit of card down between the relay to keep it tight

Have you checked the switch on the bottom of the radiator? Escos have 2 speed fans and should kick in at different temps (sorry dont know what temps).. I would put u multi meter across the terminals on the switch and run a continuity test... you should get continuity when the switch reaches the required temp. I had the same problem when the multi plug at the bottom corroded.
