Default anyone ever have this prob with their T25 EsCos ??

AaaAAaaarhg!!

Have a fooking annoying problem with my small turbo EsCos.
It hesitates and chugs when giving it full throttle.... It drives fine and works perfectly when only giving it ½ or even a little more throttle... but at full throttle, the problem occurs. !
I have cleaned the MAF, changed the plugs, changed the fuel-filter.... didn't help.

Anyone got an idea ? ....

Will put an error-reader on it next week but would like som good advice if anyone has any....... HEEEELP ...

Could be coil packs on the way out or the new plug gaps?

These cars are dead sensitive to plug gaps. Mine kept hesitating until I closed the gaps to the correst size. It's pretty small - I'll find the handbook and look it up

I had the same problem turned out to be one of the coil packs, but I would check the plugs first as they are cheap compared to the coil packs

Will def check out the plugs but I can't imagine that standard plugs bought from FORD will get my car running SO bad ! ....
Coil pack would be more probable ..... but will try error-code reader and plugs first..... cheaper.

Is it correct that the electrode gap should be 0,8mm ?...

Sounds silly but also check that the multiplugs on the inner wing are together properly, if these come a bit loose they affect a lot of stuff!

I think the gap should be around 0.7 mate.

Hope you get it sorted

Default SOLVED

Problem solved!! (I guess)

Error code reader said CODE 22 which is MAP-Sensor fault... so, If anyone else should experience what I have, then you know where to start looking.

There's something wrong that code, the small turbo Escort's error codes are 3 digit, the only 2 digit codes you should get are code separators and instructions to do things like goose the throttle during KOER tests.

well, I'm pretty sure that it showed 22 however I could be wrong....(was standing a few meters away)
The chap that did the testing works for FORD and is known as a electronic wizard around Cossie owners, so .... I trust that what he said is correct.

Ofcourse, I will know when I swap the sensor...

MAP sensor related errors for the eec-iv Cosworth are;

126 - MAP sensor out of range
128 - MAP vacuum has not been changing
129 - no MAP or MAF sensor change during goose test

Error 22 is 'MAP vacuum or BARO signal out of range' on most 2 digit eec-iv ecu's but the Cosworth can only output 3 digit errors. Maybe the guy's got some oddball kit that cannot display 3 digits but can read them!

Beware of erroneous MAP sensor faults on T25 Cossies. Mine spits them out occasionally - normally the one about MAP sensor input voltage above spec. It's a bit of a red herring to be honest because the MAP has nothing wrong with it.

There was a TSB on small turbo cossies to do with rerouting the MAP sensor to ECU wiring because it was subject to interference from the rest of the loom. Mine hasn't has this work done and I don't fancy doing it. PLus the replacement loom part is probably NLA.

I've put the peculiar MAP sensor readings down to this rather than anything else. But as has already been said 22 is not a valid code for this version of EEC-IV. Are you sure that he isn't misinterpretting the all clear signal which is two "ones" twice?

The reader was only 2-digit .... and it did say 22.
He then looked it up in some sort of manual and the book said it was a MAP sensor error.
That's all I know .... have just bought a used, but working, MAP sensor so will now soon enough if the reader is right..... or not.

Default PROBLEM SORTED

Hey all,

well..... it turns out that the problem was NOT the map-sensor (even though it gave an error when put into reader).
The problem was electrode gap on the spark plugs.
These were WAY off from factory so adjusted to 0,7mm and now the car works perfectly....

So... if anyone else should have these problems, well .... now you know where to check.
