Who still has the standard stereo in their escos..........
Just wondered really as most ive seen seem to have aftermarket stereos now.
Mine still has the original standard tape player/radio, with the cd control unit below and the 10 disc changer in the boot.
So how many of you still have them then and anyone else got the 10 disc changer too?

I also got the original Ford stereo in the cos

Didnt realise that many would keep them in the car to be honest. I think the standard set-up's more than adequate in my opinion.
What about the parcel shelf then, how many have un-cut ones? A previous owner decided to stick some big 6x9's in mine.

Standard stereo, cd player. no changer though and no holes in parcel shelf either, I retro fitted the cd player a few years ago as it only had the tape player in it from new.

standard stereo and CD player, all ford speakers defo no holes in parcel shelfs etc. and to be honest it sounds great to me

are uncut shelves sought after.. i think I have a pretty mint one someone at parents house... I went for the acoustic stealth shelf for the rude boy speakers... ah the lost youth...great days

Uncut mint parcel shelf. Kenwood head unit with ipod control. Ipod in glove box. Still have standard radio. And i used it with standard radio for a few months too. Got them safely tucked away. Dont know why i spent loads on the head unit as car aint moved for 6 weeks now lol.
And ill never change it. Hardly listen to the stereo really, but it looks cool and how it should be

No holes in my shelf, speakers just slow you down !!! lol
i had to change my front door speakers with sony direct replacement ones as they was shot when i got it....
still looks OE though unless you get real close....

i have no stereo in my car.its a motorsport..and it doesnt even have speaker cables inside the front doors.hehe..nada...zero zip!!

Looks like the 10 disc changer option i have is pretty rare then.
Metpol, i think i seen a few new shelfs on ebay a few weeks ago for Ł99 buy now. Im sure someone would pay good money even for a second hand one though. It doesnt bother me too much to be honest as it sounds pretty good as it is.

I have the std tape / radio in mine. How easy is it to put the cd player in? Is the loom already there for it? Whats the quality of the std cd Player?

I've got the Ford 2008 / 2040 setup in mine with the original speakers and it sounds pretty bloody good for its age.
The 2050 10 disc CD changer was never offered as an option on the Escort Cossy - must have been a dealer fit or a previous owner upgrade. I've got one in the cupboard but don't want to drill any holes to mount it!
The single disc is fine IMO.
Just wait until the government switch off analogue broadcasting then all these original radios will stop working. Thanks for that

Last time I sold a single disc player it went for about Ł60.
You have to be careful buying one of these without the code. It has to be dismantled to recode it - it can't be done via serial number like the head units. You also need the data cable and there are different types depending on what head unit you have.
There's a couple of standard setups on Ebay at the moment. Just search for Ford 2040

still got the std head unit with no amp/equ! no holes in the parcel shelf, but the rear speakers have had to be replaced as the old ones started to crackle and now the drivers one is starting to do it
have been thinking of getting a cd player or even one with a USB port, but still not sure, still cant beat the sound of the engine! lol

MINE STILL ORIGIONAL BUT CD PLAYER STOPPED WORKING A WHILE AGO JUST SENT AWAY FOR REPAIR HOPE TO BE BACK UP AND RUNNING SOON 
MINE GOT 2028 CD PLAYER I THINK ? EARLY BIG TURBO ESC STANDARD FIT 
UN CUT SHELF STANDARD SPEAKERS ALL ROUND SOUNDS GOOD WHEN WORKING
