Escort Cosworth advice :)
I am looking at a Escort Cosworth but one thing has jumped out at me, the back windows do not open and are not flush with the body work (goes in and shows a big black rubber holding glass in) is this right? the car is cheap and nothing is pointing to the car being so cheap (engine rebuilds and low miles) can you help as I dont want to buy a bad one!! Thanks in advance

I,m not an expert but with regards to the windows it could be a motorsport car. But would need more info on the car than just about the windows. As said not an experts veiw.

Do the seats actually say 'Recaro' on them?
Something springs to mind about the motorsport ones not having the stitching on them...no doubt wrong but there's something about them different.
No sunroof and non opening rear windows do shout out motorsport edition though, which, is no bad thing anyway
Electric windows? Or winders?

as the car is miles away I havent seen it in the flesh so only going on photos, I cant see if they actualy say recaro on them, it has electric windows, no sunroof, it seems far to good for the money if you ask me! its got 70k with a engine rebuild 4k ago full respray, it just seems to good to be true.
sp was the motersport version a cheaper version with out some of the nice stuff (leather seats, sunroof etc)

BUT...there are bargains out there so you might get lucky...pics would help, just don't put the number or where it's for sale up as if it IS a bargain someone else might buy it before you
AFAIK Motorsport editions came without sunroof, without electric mirrors, without electric windows, non opening rear quarter glass and cloth Recaros minus the stitching. They were cheaper but not by much

I'd want to know who rebuilt the engine and see if there is any proof of this. To me is seems a bit strange to sell the car so cheap and so soon after spending money getting the engine done. HPI it and check all the panel gaps.
The things that get my attention is that i don't think they're the seats that come with the motorsports and it's now got electric window(All of which could have been fitted aftermarket in the last 14 odd years- Fair enough)
I'd defo be going for a look though, providing the HPI check came back okay

yeah I know what your saying. it only had 70k on the clock, that seems a bit early to be rebuilding the engine with that amount of miles on it.
i did a check on the car and there are no accidents on the car, and it is a genuin cossy

Seems cheap and looks nice in the photo's. More than likely a motorsport, thats had electrics and the recaro seats added. If its legit then it looks a bargain, its been on at least a few days as i remember seeing it a while back.
I assume you have phoned him about it. Didnt he confirm that its a motorsport?
To be honest, you'd expect something to be wrong at that price. Although bargains can be got every now and then. Id be tempted to put a deposit down subject to a proper full inspection done on it to cover yourself.

As long as the vin and chassis numbers match the V5 and number plate and are untampered I say it was a bargin if the shell is straight
I'll buy the wheels off ya if you don't like them

The guy obviously knows about Escort Cossie's, as you say he has had it repainted, but he has either got hold of the black strip in the back bumper or had it painted in. What ever he has done, he knows what a straight cossie should look like.
Nothing doesnt look majorly out of place, n ive seen a few posts on rep's on here and they have pulled apart within seconds..
Go have a look and just check the panels and all that.
Good luck
