Gear Gaitor fitting
my new gear gaitor arrived today from Mr Gaitor on e-bay it looks ok but a few questions.
1. Should there be a bit of plastic that goes through the top, at the minute on the new one there is a cable tie through it, and on my existing one I think its missing if it should be there???
2. How have people fitted the gaitor i.e. fixed it to the centre console?
3. Any advice with regards removing the centre console?
Thanks in advance
Andy

Not too sure if there's a difference on ST cars Andy so wont comment about the collar (mine didn't have one though, just threaded a cable tie through mine which loops over the lift up selector on the gearstick!).
The console is a piece of piss mate, but again i don't know if there's any difference between BT & ST models.
With regards to the fixing the gator to the console, mine was quite badly abused when i got the car so that was my first port of call!
There should be a plastic trim that slots into the actual console, i used industrial staples to attach the gator to that, then fitted the trim to the console.
I did a post way back last year, not too sure if i can find it now though due to the search function being buggered.
I'll have a look for ya mate!

We spoke about the birds coming but they werent keen on the camping part but we reckon it would be a proper laugh!
And hopefully i'll have my car finished!

its about Ł400 each for 2 in the car so you really need a couple of you to keep the cost realistic, then your beer and food money which I think I spent about Ł200 over the weekend. The campsite is one of the best there it has plenty of showers and loo's that are cleaned out regular not like some of the hell holes we saw around the place it also has its own beer tent and its fully secured with fencing/guards etc. We are going on the Eurostar from folkestone I think

I fitted my "mr gaiter" gaiter last week, I lined it up then took it to my local auto trimmers for them to put some staples in for charity box money.
when fitting it be careful to get the heaight correct, or it will look baggy. the new gaiter seemed a little to long by about 10mm
to fit the tie wrap turn the gaiter inside out then fit the plastic coller through it then do up the tie wrap pull it out again the wrap is now inside and hidden.

When I fitted on of these mr.gaiter things about just about a year ago, it where ALMOST to short .. but worked out ok. I reused the plasticframe the original gaiter where fitted with.
I sat with the centerconsole upside down between my legs, and used very shortthreaded screws (6 or 8.. dont remenber)
Easy job... just as Steve writes, get the height correct!! On the lever it just fixed with a small slim cabeltie hidden on the inside of the gaitor.

okey dokey so to remove the plastic centre console I guess I do the following: -
1. remove stereo stuff
2. Pop out the switches for leccy windows etc.
3. remove screws/bolts either side of the console
should the console then just lift off?
