i know this is a well old post, but im nearly 100% certain this is the car my auntie had from nearly new,
it never had a motorsport number when she had it, i can never remember the full details of why not, not remember the door handles being odd either, but i must have been about 12 when she sold it.

jesus bit of a ressurection but still here goes lol easiest way to find anything out is to
send dvla a £5 note ...( well was last time i did it )
in return for your crispy 5iver you will get a full list from them of all the previous owners names ,and maybe previous reg,s
just trace it that way
personally i think a previous owner may have kept said plaque for sentimental reasons
just my 5p worth ta

Sorry for the resurrection but this used to belong to a mate who spent a lot of time and money on it. Be interesting to find out if it is actually a monte.

Great to see this car resurface. Unfortunately I don’t think Rich the previous owner, thread starter ever found out what number this was. It’s bizarre as you’d think someone somewhere would have the details 🤷♂️.
Any pics of the car 👍

Its work in progress at the moment.I just had it blasted underneath and inside and the guy has it in primer. Hope to have it back to mallard green in the next week or so. Then build back to its former glory. I had all the Monte Bits with it. It had a roll cage in when I bought it but that is now all removed and a few repairs carried out. Will keep the thread updated with pics.
