AP's under standard wheels
I'm considering putting the car back to standard but still want decent brakes not the std crap Ford jobbies.
I did a search but failed to find a definate answer, can you get a set of AP's under standard escos wheels (NOT Monte) if so what size are the discs and what spec calipers & where can i get them from?
I've read somewhere that its possible but you have to remove material from the calipers, why is this? Would a wheel spacer work instead?
Thanks a lot

Absolutely no way will they fit under standard wheels (without spacers), and I personally wouldn't recommend maching any material off. What you could do is get sub hub eccentric bells made for it with the spacers built in, but I still think you would have to go to 315mm discs, as there is not enough clearance diameter wise either.

A guy in the Resto room put AP's behind his standard Escos rims (not monte), he is rebuilding his black sapphire user name NOS something or other I think
They aren't massive but are AP's and will do the job nicely

Cheers buddy, i've seen the pics. The only problem i can see is those pics are of a 2wd so the disc & caliper sit further away from the inside face of the wheel when compared to a 4x4. Which means I may have to run spacers, if its only a few mm then its no problem but I dont think i'd want big spacers on std wheels

As Mike says he has emailed me, I dont have a std alloy to try...
My brakes are AP CP5200 4 pot calipers and AP 315mm discs I can get my Monte alloys over them without a spacer, BUT if the balance weights on the inside of the wheels are to far out (near the face) they catch on the calipers, so IMO std alloys are going to be VERY VERY close, if near impossible ... ???

I can assure you it WILL be impossible without spacing the wheel out, the only thing I am unsure of is whether there is the internal diameter clearance. Surely you can find SOMEONE in your regional group who could lend you a wheel?
If Dave was any kind of person, he would send you one of his to try .

there are a lot of other brakes that will fit.
look here:
i ve a 4 pot girling saddle with 280 x 26 mm 2 part discs these are on the pic with 17 inch wheels.
These will be up for sale as i m going for 4 pot porsche gt3 saddles (996 model) with 320 x 32 mm discs.
