Default Heatshielding coilpackwires? / relocating coilpacks?

I had a little stutter the other day when booting it in 4th and 5th now me mate who i bought it off told me it could be the coilpackwires on the camcover as the engine heats up.

As he had this problem earlier and even had to replace a coilpack.

Any other people have had this problem ?
What stuff should i get to prevent them getting TOO hot?

(no i aint going to drive like miss daisy! )

The coil packs don't like the heat and it's pretty poor positioning by Ford in putting them there. Best solution is to relocate them elsewhere in the engine bay.

The problem with where the coil packs are is probably due to conducted heat rather than radiant (the cam valley cover doesn't help things either). If you move the coil packs, the new coil leads shouldn't need heat sleeving.

Yes, it's quite easy. Though it might be easier to use a normal eec-iv coil pack. IIRC there may be some opening up of the cam cover required to get all 4 plug leads into the valley at the back where the existing wiring is routed through.

cheers bob

I've order an extension/conversion loom from Ryan to relocate them and to use a ZETEC coilpack and order the leads Mike R uses as he uses shorter ones so the cam cover can still be used

cheers for all your input tho appriciate it!

Here you go rene.

First of its kind.

Cheers for making me think of it !

Now all you EECIV boys can ditch those coils and run a Zetec coilpack

Here's a picture of the sub-loom.

Cahzz,

no sorry not yet, this is the 1st one made this morning.

Will be shipping it to Rene this week.

Obivously the coilpack wires can be made any length required, but rene wanted to mount the Coilpack close to the Inlet.

Cheers

Ryan

Rene,
For an extra £22 you can have the bracket to allow you to mount the coil-pack like this .
