Just bought a MK2 Escort.....hmmm.....

Yesterday after casually browsing ebay at mk2 escorts, i wasnt really looking to buy one, i found a little mk2 4dr ghia which i thought looked cool as fu*k and after a few phonecalls i picked it up. I have no idea what im gonna do with it but its got a few months tax and mot, id love to actually use it if i can get insured but being 20 doesnt really help getting classic insurance.
On the plus side it was an auto so that means bigger g/box tunnel :content:
The bodywork isnt bad its had some dodgy spraying in the past but seems ok few holes in the floor but nothing i wouldnt expect being 34 years old!!
Its not very fast and its not mint but it was cheap and it is cool so thats good enough for me lol! MK2s aint really my strong point ive always been into mk4s but always nice to try something different so some pointers might be a start but havent got the time or money for big changes due to still building up my mk4 van!
Cheers, Neil

Very tasty little car !!!!
Was watching it on ebay and very tempted but having a mk1 and also doing a mk4 van i thought it was wise to pass.

Nope, as I posted before a mate had the car in the early 1990s, it was crashed into in his drive and he had it repaired.
He was from Gedney nr Long Sutton. If I remember correctly he was only the 2nd owner of it, an old bloke used to bring it into Leesons garage (I did my apprenticeship there)
When did you own it?

It was around 96 97 I live in kings lynn not far from him 👍

GVK. 11-05-2019 10:30 PM

I can't remember the exact years he owned it but was obviously before then. Was a tidy car.

edit - no mot history and not taxed since 2000 so doubt it's still about.

Any idea what the ET is on those wheels, I'm looking at a set at the moment, but there listed as -7 and I'm not sure if they'll go on ?
