Well peeps its been 16 weeks and five days since the death of my old engine, the reason its taken so long is lack of funds and time.

It`s not that bad when i think of the money i`ve saved, both my best mates have had cossies for years so they no there stuff and helped me thru it, while i was doing it i thought i would chuck in some new greens, three bar, stg3 chip and a 500 cooler, all that with a little head work and some low comp pistons im hoping for a healthy 350bhp ( fingers crossed )

what im after is a bit of advise on methods of running the engine in, i`ve got castrol GTX in it at the moment and i no i should do a good 500 to 1000 miles before the set up but is it ok to do it in one weekend or do i need to do it over a longer period, any help always apreciated

dont think it matters on the time frame - it took me about 4-6 months to run mine in

 

I was out in it last night RAN, done 14 miles and was having withdrawl symptoms, i was desperate to just plank it i dont no how you could go that long do you think i could just do it over the weekend then?

Good luck with it and i don't think it really matters how long it takes.
Last time i did mine i did it in a week.

i can imagine mate! my cossie was off the rd for 10 weeks and 2 days after an engine fire went to collect it a few weeks ago and you shouldve seen the smile on my face too when she started up

It`s the first time i`ve been right in about an engine DAVE, taking valves out, changing pistons, shells, oil pump, every gasket has been changed to, and as you said, when you fire it up and theres no noises its a fucken miracle, you always have a horrible feeling that you havent put something in right but in actual fact its sound, the worse thing was putting the valves back in, those little fucking collets i suppose if you do it every day then its a piece of piss, but its all new to me,

ps, anyone need a rebuild, im your man
