My oil light flickers on tick over theres nothing wrong with the motor!!! theres plenty of oil in it,tickover is on 1000rpm as soon as the revs raise buy 200rpm light goes out and stays out till you stop at the next junction and it starts fickering again any ideas?

Worth trying a new switch 1st or check the wire going to it

1066811 oil press switch £8.44+vat

If the only variable is the RPM then I would guess at it being the oil pump sooner than the switch.

If it was coming on and off intermittently (over bumps say) then it could be the wire/switch but I doubt it going on by the initial description of the problem

Got a switch will try tommorow if its the pump can you get uprated ones and how bigger job is it engine out?

Same prob on mine.....

Oil pump...

Get it sorted ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine started when karl was doing my car!!!

My S1 oil light is on all the time - one of the quirks of a S1........ my oil pressure is fine, levels fine, switch new. Could be absolutely nothing mate, but get it checked out anyway.
