I made the mistake of buying a T4 off E-bay, only to find out it wasn't a genuine RS500 one, but a T4 of something totally different..... Never Did find out what though.
In the end, I ended up exchanging it against my T38 (best thing I ever did). For some reason (Specification) the T4 just never spooled up as soon as it should have done. Karl was totally lost as to why it wouldn't spool up as quick as all the other T4 conversions, but there are quite a few versions of the T4 available, and don't just assume that all T4'S are the same... They're not, as I found out to my expence. Impellors can be different, Shaft Size Can be Different, Get it checked out by one of the Turbo Guys before you spend all your hard earned money on it.

It is a Garrett T4, no doubt about that. But..... a T4 off what... Cummins Diesel, Paxman Generator...... almost anything, and unfortunately, they're all a slightly different mix-match of parts.
Maybe it's just the photo's, but that looks a huge exhaust housing on it...... and why would you have cut back blades on a T4 Cossie Turbo. They spool up slowly enough as it it, so why make it worse by cutting back the blades. (Obviously assuming it's been built up for a cossie engine with about 400 - 500bhp, and not some whacko engine). Shame the guy dosen't give the full specification... Ie Exhaust Housing Size, Impellor Size/Part Number. At the price it is now, it would be a bargain...... IF IT'S THE RIGHT SPEC......
It also states it's been built up for a Cosworth Engine...... WHAT SPEC COSWORTH ENGINE ???? 8000rpm Drag Car Engine, with no power below 6000rpm, We could go on for ever on this one.................

The nut on the shaft is different on the diesel ones, think they are tri-angular shaped nuts on the thread.
or some other shape, but different than the petrol models.
hi lads
its true t4's have 3 different size pennies in them this can effect spool up and top end power its better to buy them from a reputable dealer, then you know what your getting must admit for response / power i would go for a gt turbo but if you want it bomb proof i would go for a t4 everytime
cheers fitz
