If its for insurance purposes the insurance company would normally want you to use thier valuers...

I don't see any reason why you can't value it at 18k..
they sell for that, and you will only be claiming if its nicked (never to be seen again)
or wrote off
or burned out

My insurance company wanted a valuation from the RS Owners Club....!!!!

Otherwise I could have got a buddy in the motor trade to say it was worth whatever I wanted.

I had to submit the RSOC valuation, along with pics of underneath of the car, interior, engine bay, one of each side of the car, and front and rear, plus every receipt I had, including the original invoice for the car. Plus the last five MOT's to show that I did less than 5k miles per year.

Got it insured for 11k

Which in reality is nowhere near what I've spent on it over the last couple of years.... It all adds up so quickly.

Engine 7k
Pro Alloy Radiator, Intercooler & Pre Rad 1k
Brakes 1k
Suspension 1k
Quaife Diff 1k
Wheels and Tyres 1k

There's the 12k and that don't even include the price of the car......Lol, still a better valuation that some people who've probably spent much more than me. But it goes to show that you'll never ever get what you spend on your car in the event of it going all pear shaped for one reason or another. I guess that's why people are breaking them as they;re worth more in parts than selling them whole.

Personally I know what I've spent, and what I paid for the car, but I know I'll never get an agreed value of 19k on a Sapphire........But then again, I bought this car when it was 18months old, and NEVER intended to sell it anyway. It's my toy, and it'll always be my toy..... And I love it....

Anyone else got a good valuation on there cossie.

Here are some of the pics I submitted to justify it's condition and the parts fitted.

Do they have to pay you the agreed valuation anyway.

You know what insurance companies are like.

Whats the price of a standard car, realisticly, what would they pay.

Would they go off there guides which is low compared to the price of the cars that are advertised in the mags etc....

DAVE COS4X4 : Exactly.... Who know's what they'd pay out in the event of a total loss...... Regardless of the agreed value.
