Default New Computerised MOT Test

I purchased a new daily drive in August which came with a full test. It had one of the new style mot certificates. I just wondered when this system is ment to be fully operational everywhere as I took the S2 for test today and was issued the old / current style certificate, so assume it's just not everywhere is active with the new system yet?

Cheers

Active in my area - they are alot more stricter now - even had a moan about my stainless exhaust on my old Pug 306TD....said it was too loud....FFS....wait till they test my Reno!!! - also its more expensive @ £41 - and if it fails you have got to officially book another time & they have got to do the whole test again & they cant just double check the areas it failed on last time like some garages used to do (rightly or wrongly).

Also as of next year you will have to pay for a re-test - which means it will cost you £41 everytime it fails - even on something as minor as a bulb!!!! This apparently is an effort to keep older cars off the road.....not good at all....flockin government!!!

That sounds shit I can understand there are some ropey as fcuk motors about and it will help prevent fraudulant mot's being issued, but £41 each time for something like a bulb... FFS

I guess as it's just my local garage in the village I took my car to they have not got the equipment yet....lucky I guess...not that it failed anyway.... lol

if your car fails on any of the following, the MOT guidebook states a re-test is free.

Tyres
Lights
Seatbelts
Sharp Edges
and a couple more i forget,

If the car fails on anything to do with ancherages or mountings - IE, brakes, chassis members etc etc, then you will be charged a retest.

and mine just cost me £35 this morning - trade price

currently enforced.

basically, if you have to dismantle something to repair it for MOT, then you will be charged a retest

now the mot is computerised, they should link it to the tax database, so unless a car is SORN declared, they fine you if the MOT runs out without being re-newed.

Cant see how thats going to work, my MOT ran out a month before my tax did and i didnt renew the MOT because the car was being stored off the road with over a months tax still on it, but havent broken any laws so i sdont see how anyone could be fined for it, unless they were caught driving it without MOT.

St3V3_C, I meant instead of failing, it'll pass with advisory's not "it's a pass but could do with"
