Focus RS,as soon as i sell the Boxster.
For: its' an RS,so will hold it's value way better than an ST IMO(even the new one),as said above, turbo'd,better brakes, suspension etc. Was made in limited numbers so will only become rarer the more that get written off etc.
Look at current values of RS's vs. XR's or ST's of a similar age. See my point?

Our exclusive pictures reveal that away from the motor show crowds, the ST's muscular lines come alive in the summer sun. Designers have done a great job in evolving the latest Focus's conservative shape into a striking hot hatch. Inside, the makeover is just as dramatic. The colour of the bodywork is carried over to the seats, while chrome trim adds visual impact to the well built cabin. On top of the dash, three extra gauges hint at what's under the bonnet.
As with the outgoing Focus RS, the ST employs a turbocharger to maximise performance. However, it takes power from a five-cylinder Volvo engine. This is the first five-cylinder unit ever used by Ford, and it "gives the Focus a unique character", according to one insider.
While the newcomer's 217bhp output is bettered by the 237bhp Vauxhall Astra VXR, Ford has engineered its front-wheel-drive Focus to deliver gutsy low-down torque. Early indications are that the ST - short for Sport Technologies - drives like no other Ford ever produced before. The distinctive engine noise is complemented by a chassis set-up which aims to provides plenty of grip, combined with entertaining handling.
So impressive is the performance that, during development testing, the ST is claimed to have shaved a massive 12 seconds off the best lap time set by an old-shape Focus RS around the Nürburgring in Germany. By the time production models hit the UK, suspension settings will have been further tuned to our roads to give a supple ride as well.
We'll give you our definitive verdict when the ST is launched later this year, before it goes on sale in early 2006. With the Astra VXR due at the same time, all eyes will be on the hot hatch market to see if the Golf GTI loses its crown.

New Focus ST
Although saying that my mate Stockdale had a Focus RS last year, fitted a de-cat, K&N and a bluefin and it flew, had it on 3 wheels going across the roundabout outside the Central Library B/Heath

GOT TO BE THE RS FOR SURE, ST AGAIN WILL BE MASS PRODUCED, THEREFORE PLUMITING PRICES...RS ARE A LIMITED RUN, AND NOW FORD HAVE ANNOUNCED THEY ARE NOT PRODUCING ANY MORE, PRICES WILL HOLD.. WHICH IS GOOD NEWS AS IVE GOT AN 04 PLATE WITH 8,967 MILES. BUILD No 4418 of 4500..
RS KICKS aRSe..

ST, cause the potential for big power is there.....much better build quality and better interior, and being a run of the mill model i wouldnt care about modding it or spoiling it for the 'purists'........
And whoever said the FRS seats were better wants their head examined....the mock sparcos that fall apart and u cant actually use a harness with......roflol

If i had to have one it would be the ST, the RS is crap as standard. But to be honest id save my money, ford havent made anything that interests me since '91, well maybe except the racing puma.

ST has Recaro's tho
I wouldn't change my RS for the ST, purely as it's an RS, is better looking, not too keen on the new Focus.
My seat's haven't fallen apart and I've seen FRS's with harnesses.

Love the interior of the new ST. Still not too sure about the exterior
Conversely I love the exterior of the old Focus but hate the interior!
Is it jsut me or is anyone on here wishing that the new cars had LESS power? The faster the new cars on the more we have to mod the old ones to get the huge performance advantage that we had in the 90's over (then) current hot hatches etc.

For exclusivity, I'd go for an RS over an ST....
With the ST being a 5cyl, does it have something like the old skool warble that an Audi 20v Quattro had??
Cheers,
Grant

hope the suspension is sorted on the ST cos im not overally impressed with the suspension on my new focus. seems a tad unpredictable on country lanes.
mint on dual carriage way type roads but not impressed on bumpies.
the focus RS looks alot harder IMO but I do like the new focus! (lol im not biased though)

I would have the RS over the new ST.
The FRS just looks the part, the styling is agressive and wider than a normal Focus and even the new ST.
The new ST just hasnt got the road presence that the RS has.
The dash in the FRS is a little bland but theres a few bits you can do to bring it upto spec. The dash in the the new ST is sooooo boring IMO, the only good bit is the 3 gauge pod.
For my money i would buy the Focus RS

JUST ON LOOKS ALONE THE RS KICKS ARSE
...AND WITH A LIMITED RUN OF 4501, GOT TO HOLD PRICE....MAIN REASON THO IS THAT " ITS AN RS " LAST OF THE LEGACY WOT MORE CAN I SAY
ST STANDS 4 S**T...
