Default Fezza mk3 queries - alot!

1. Right just got myself a 1.1 HCS engined Mk3/3.5 Fiesta, its an N reg so one of the last of the mk3's but how do i determine whether its the 3 or the 3.5? Are door mirrors the clue? What other differences are there between the two models?

2. Im planning on fitting Recaro's out of an FRST and was wondering if i'll have any issues with fitting - will it be a straight swap? I found this guide: http://www.djstalker.com/content/view/87/44/ you'll see it's title refers to airbags but then theres no mention of what implications the airbag will have to the ease of fitment for the seats. Ive looked under my standard seats for wires for sensors etc but have found nothing - have i anything to worry about as concerns the airbag being set off when removing the old seats?

3. Another plan is to fit rst bumpers, arches and skirts - will the bumpers bold straight on (i would assume they would but ive never seen the connections). How were the arches/skirts fitted from the factory, were they clips - i doubt they were bonded on. I'd be grateful if someone could post up some piccies of the reverse side of arches/skirts so i can see what im dealing with.

4. Finally - will aftermarket Koni suspension struts (for example) suited to an RST, aftermarket front disks/pads for RST's be a straight fit for my 1.1?

Thanks in advance

right i dont have a fiesta ( or any car for that matter ) but i always wanted one so , the seats as far as i no there a straight swap , the bumpers FRST or XR2I bumpers skirts and archs will go straight on, the bumpers just bolt up and the archs have bolts coming out of them ( of there the same as ERST ) but most people just cut them off and bond them on to save drillin the arch and keepin it as rust free as poss .
the suspension agen if its like a ERST the kit will go on but i think the ERST andFRST were lowered 20mm when they come out the factory so a 40mm kit for a FRST is 60mm normal ..... well i think thats right im sure some one will tell me if im wrong

On an N plate car you should be the Mk3.5 (do you have a fuel flap or a fuel cap?)

The seats I don't think will bolt straight in as the 3.5 had some differences to the floor pan.

The bodykit and bumpers should be a pretty straight forward fit, as mentioned above a lot of people bond the kit on to save drilling the bodywork.

The suspension will not go straight on as the hubs are different on the 3.5 than they are on the 3. If you use a Mk3 kit you will also need the Mk3 hubs as well.

Hello mate,

I only mentioned airbags in that guide so you can identify if your's is a Mk3.5 (it is if it's on an N-plate).

Bumpers and bodykit, etc, will go on (but you'll need to bond the arches on - there's a guide on fiestaturbo.com's guide forums).

The front shocks won't fit unless you change the hubs, driveshafts, track rod ends, and lower arms from a Mk3 (pre-'94) car.

Very simple to determine if it mk3 or mk3.5/4

How is the screen fixed? Held in with a rubber, or is it bonded in?

Mk3 Fez (RST/XR2i shape) were held in with the rubber, next model was bonded in.

The Mk3.5 isn't a Mk4 or Mk 4 facelift though Thrush you numpty

Both the Mk3 and the Mk3.5 the screens are held in with rubbr seals. The visual differences are the use of a fuel flap as opposed to a cap and the mirrors look the same as those on the Mk4. Seem to remember the boot lid swage lines aren't there on the 3.5 either but could have imagined that.

Well I didn't know did I?

so in essence then, it ain't a 3.5 is it - it's a mk3 with a different fuel flap and mirrors - you might call it a mk3 facelift

Silly fucking numbers for all these cars if you ask me....

Cheers for all the replies - some more helpful than others PMSL

It confrims what i thought, mine is a mk3.5 - but was wondering last night, can i not buy suspension/brake kits for the rs1800 and they will fit? If not are RST hubs a straight swap or do they require any machining?

Im surprised about the recaros not fitting, what would be involved? Drilling new holes in the floor plan for the new subframes?
