Default Fuel Computer & Electric mirrors Q.

Hi,

Does anybody know, did the electronic fuel computer and electric mirrors come standard on the Series 2?

Thanks

Fuel Comp was optional extra

Not 100% sure about leccy mirrors before '90 spec. After '90 spec leccy everything was standard, I think.

Cheers.

Do you reckon the wiring loom would of being the same? So it's a case of buying electric mirrors and conecting them up?

Yeah, the looms are the same, everything is just plug and play. I retro fitted a few things myself, everything was there on the loom.

What do you want to fit? I can tell you roughly where the plugs are.

The majority of them are behind the speedo pod, and slightly to the right

dont you have to have the sensors on the jetronic system first to be able to use the fuel computer?

Yeah, you will need the speedo sensor and the fuel flow sensor which goes on the metering unit, the one in the tank is on all cars, that is under the rear seat.

I retro fitted my fuel computer and it always worked, I did miss it when I changed management, now it is an ACT gauge lol

Go up a scrappy and pull the dials out of an Orion Ghia, take the mirror switch out, and behind there should be a black plug with 2 connections (+/-) this is the mirror loom.

then just follow it to the doors, pull it all out and connect it to yours

I have a 1990 G ERST which came with leccy mirrors, variable wiper stalk etc, but no fuel computer. I have just purchased one off ebay and have taken off the black plastic surround and cant see anything coming off the loom to connect the fuel computer to??? Its a tight wee space to try and find anything though! Will there be a multiplug there or am i wasting my time? Surely when the car was new and a fuel computer was chosen as an option a Ford technician never had to fit all new sensors to fit a computer?

Loom can always be made DIY, the speed sensor is the same as in practically all mk5 escorts, but the flow sensor... oh dear...

Not unless somebody has installed one afterwards.
