Default INTERCOOLER SPRAY WATER BOTTLES

Hi all,

Just wondered what kind of water bottles are people using to supply an intercooler spray? Anyone fitted one to an RST. Any pics would be great.

Cheers
Dave

Done it on my old intercooler set up. In all honesty water spray is no substitute for a decent cooler. In all honesty I wouldn't bother doing it again. Saw a drop of a few degree's in ACT's but nothing worth shouting about.

I've got a radtec intercooler on at the minute but thought that I'd give this a go aswell to see what happens. Thought it might do some good in the hotter weather.

Dave,

My brother (doggydowg) has a setup on his xr2 turbo, that he made up from scrappy parts for a really low price. Send him a PM and i'm sure he'd be happy to talk you through the required bits and how to rig them up.

Cheers, I've got all the bits I need apart from the water bottle. The one I've got would be a little bit big and would prefer to keep the bottle in the engine bay if poss.

Cheers

Hiya David why not tap into your windscreen washer bottle and use that i also used windscreen washer pump to pump water and some misting nozzles from garden weed spray bottles;_)

If youv got a fmi there isnt much point in water spray for coolers, probably beter off looking into water injection into boost circuit instead

Doubt you'd need the water injection with a front mount. I use the large Pace intercooler on mine and also have an ERL water injection kit. The water injection kit hasn't been used since the intercooler was fitted. Just hasn't been necessary. When I had my water spray I tapped into the windscreen washer bottle.

Thanks for that. I got 2 boost switches that come in around psi. Gonna wire one of them up this week to run the water injection.

Cheers

I've looked into this and because i play paintball have found that the co2 tanks we use for our guns make great intercooler sprays. Wired up to a boost pressure switch to come on at a certain boost work a treat and very cheap to do plus the co2 looks better when you spray it (looks like nos) and almost freezes the intercooler.

I had Lee @ Fusion make me up a mirror image header tank that fitted on the passenger wing! he then cut a hole in it to fit the pump!

thats the worst place to keep water if your intentions are to cool the intake air temp , personally id have the water kept WELL AWAY from any heat source

Can get the co2 bottles which are 20oz units with an on/off valve for £40. Bottom line off a paintball gun £8. Then some form of hose (can use high pressure hose from paintball guns but tends to be a bit pricey about £7 per foot)but any high pressure hose will do.£10 for fittings and some kind of spray bar. This could be controlled by you just turning the on/off valve or if you can get hold of a boost pressure switch could be controlled from that(hav'nt found a switch yet but am on the case). So in total about £60 without the boost pressure switch. Can also get the bottles filled for £1 a time.
