Default non starting sierra 2wd after running out of fuel

Hi,

I have an interesting problem with a Sierra 2wd.

I had it sat in a garage for a few months over christmas and started it every other week to keep the battery topped up.

Unfortunately the fuel ran out one time. After a couple of weeks I got round to putting 5 litres in, and now it wont start.

There is a spark, but I pulled the fuel hose off just below the pressure regulator and cranked the engine, but no fuel.

If i suck on the pipe the fuel comes through.

Apart from the battery being low, what couls the problem be.

JUst a dodgy fuel pump or something cutting off the fuel somehow ?

I have tried with jump leads and is the same

Any advice on the next step / help with diagnosis ????

Cheers

Paul.

on a 2 w/d saff this switch is located under the spare wheel in the boot, white part of switch should be pushed down for pump to work

Mmm, thanks guys for the hints.

Maybe when I put the spare wheel in, I inadvertantly hit the switch.

I will try that tonight

Paul.

or maybe your pump sucked in some rusty shit from the bottom of the tank and is now seized. does the pump actually get a power supply?

I say it's that m8 as you dropped the wheel into place it set the trigger off to think it was (car) has been hit up the arse cutting power to the pump. good luck
