in the last 4 or so months my laguna has had cambelt and MOT which cost £400, last week the head was rebuilt at a cost of £1100, and since then the car is squeaking very bad and now it needs a new tensioner and belt at a cost of £220, this car is costing soooo much at the mo i am deffo thinking of binning the fucking thing

 

I know what you mean mate, my 4k mile £10000 engine has just popped the £1000 turbo

Well its much cheaper than a crack habbit!!!

 

Had this bad luck with pretty much every French car I have owned (Luguna and 2 shitrons) they seem to be made out of shit! This kind of unreliability comes as standard with Cossies though

 

Are you using a renault dealer ? If so, you probably should try and find an independent. Renault charge and arm and a leg for parts and labour.

And new tensioner + belt after four months, don't you have any guarantee ?:

 

I Would say it all depends on the car and i would get to £100 with a laguna and get pissed off

that seems very dear for a tensioner and a aux belt....

 

Steve@SCC, they aint cheap on Lagunas! Some of them come in at more than that at trade price from what I remember when getting a belt for mine!

Ok yep I once owned a 205 1.9, great round corners, unstable at high speed, and fucking bled me dry! Even the Cossie doesn't break down as often as the 205 GTi did

 

A friend of mines got 23k in a datsun gti-r for all of 330 bhp and he's just spent 500 nicker on a down pipe and now hes talkin about another new turbo at about 2k

Steve, i agree mate hopefully it also makes me a cup of tea as well deffo shouldnt have gone to a renault dealer but i honestly thought all it was was a ill fitted belt cos i cured the fooking squeak myself, and thought i would do it on my day off pick it up end of day and just fit in nicely with my decorating
