Default Intermitent Temp gauge ?

Hi Guys,

I've been getting intermittent temp gauge readings for a while now. I've replaced the gauge but this hasnt really helped matters... I'm guessing that the sender unit or attached wiring is loose and is therefore only cutting in / out with the movement of the car.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the sendor unit ? where is it located ? any tips on fixing this issue would be great,

Cheers

Hi mate,

Likely your right it will be the temp sender. It is located near the thermostat housing it is a thin peice of wire with a rubber boot on the end that push's onto the head.

The rubber boot melts over time and causes a crappy connection. Had this with my old one, put another connector on and it was fine.

I'd check that first

Just took a look now, Can see two electrical connectors going to the thermostat area - The larger of the two is a blue connector, the second is smaller and is a single wire.... guessing the later is the connection I am looking for ya ?

I found it, might give it a clean up tonight when i get home from work.. when you say you put another connector on, did you just cut and re-join the wire ?
