Default Power and Gearing

there are quite a few erst with 250+ bhp....what i would like to know is with that much power would it not be better to have longer gear ratios than standard??

basically comparing the escort box with other cars it has a close ratio (because there is only 130 bhp).... and when you have big power its foot down and revs just fly up and change gear...

so would it not be better to have the ratios of something like a focus rs or something else that is fwd and 200+ bhp to get the best out of that power?? also how much would something like that cost if anyone has done it???

regards

I think the S2's 3.82 final drive is bang on for mixed use. The 4,27 the S1 had is a bit on the short side, but better for track days.
