Default Amal control? Standard ECU Please help

Hi all thanks for the replies on my other post guys and after reading here i have noticed that some people say if you have a normal Chip not to use an amal valve...i am pretty sure my car is standard chipped and there is a amal valve on it????? firstly how can i tell the chip is standard or not (i looked at it after undoing all the 1 million screws holding it together and the soldering looked original and the chip looked "normal" ie no stickers etc etc although it has 2 letters on it in perm pen) secondly lets assume the chip is original ass the car is only running 0.5 bar (7psi ish) should i remove the amal valve or not? and if so where should the 3 hoses go?????????
It might also help to mention there is a bleed valve also on the car...(car is as i bought it) should these be on together?????

The reason i am asking all this is the car is making some wierd banging clicking noises under load (Bottom end???) or maybe "pinking?????? everyone i ask tells me different things??? Please help me The car runs ok except the noises and i know i should get it tuned but i dont want to be ripped off!!!! Until i find a reputable Garage ill have to fend for myself.....(the bottom end pinking above i have remembered if i turn the dissy the noises disapear but the car doesnt boost properly)

Thanks guys for reading this 50000000 word essay and keep up the good work love the site and it has helped me incredibly as this is my first RST.....

Firstly do you know for certain its running std boost (7-8psi)??

The 3 hoses from the amal valve go to

C - compressor
W - Wastegate Actuator
forget the last letter but it goes to the metering unit

The ECU should have had a seal on it so you would of known if it has been opened before iirc?

What are the letters on the chip?

the bleed valve would of been to run more boost. . so it is 'possible' it is/has run more boost before, could suggest either way that it has or hasnt been chipped before!

cant really say for sure if it is chipped, or what thenoises are. When do the noises occur? what revs/full throttle etc?

Imo - remove the bleed valve, refit amal valve and take it to a tuner/rolling road and get them to set it up properly.

Default As above

Hi thanks for the replies....firstly i dont know the letters on the chip sorry will have to check again.I know the car is running 6-7-8 psi as the boost gauge shows 0.5 bar, if i open the bleed valve or close it for that reason it makes no diffrence to the boost? and the amal valve is already fitted....should i try removing it is it interfering with the bleed valve?????

the noice occurs only under load, not on idle nor when i let of the fuel/pedal, and increases the faster i go. I don't think itis pinking as the noise, if this makes sense, sounds too metallic and clunky.

Thanks again

Could be the big end bearings possibly mate if yout hink its engine related?

personally if your not sure if its chipped etc i would do as i said above and remove the bleed valve and keep the amal valve. SOME chips the amal valve is removed, some not. . .!

bleed valve sounds dodgy, it should increase boost, but dont fook about with it as you dont know if its gonna fuel enough if the boost does increase! imo best removing it all together and leaving it to an expert!

Have to agree with the above mate, don't go playing with turning up boost without getting help from someone who really knows how to setup the fueling etc - I'd hate for her to go pop

Most garages only charge around £60 for a setup.... just think how much a rebuild would set you back
