Have you tried cleaning out the breathers they may be blocked and when was the last time it had a good oil change its a pressure build up in the engine

Its definetely a build up in pressure it could be that some of the oilways are blocked inside the engine not just the pipes a breather tank is one way of releasing a build up of pressure. It will damage the piston rings eventually if not sorted and it will also try to release this pressure through the engine seals and dipstick.

Just to be on the safe side perform a compression check on each cylinder

Hi there i had this problem with my Fiesta xr2i i got an airline and blew out all of the breather pipes and a huge sausage of crap came out of them all this seemed to cure the problem for a little while until my piston rings went. hopefully for your sake it is only the breather pipes.

Your best bet would be to stick an engine flush through it and hope that it clears the oilways when you change your oil next. I had the same problem on my XR2 and found the breathers were blocked but i stripped the engine down anyway and repalced the piston rings

Just dont drive it because i'll give you a hint... my old engine is sitting in my back garden

Because i fry'd the rings! that breather thingy on the left of the inlet man kept blowing apart & the motor was smoking like fcuk! so in the end i got pissed off with it & kept booting it till the rings actaully went! well they where fcuked anyway so

That was my old merc grey one 3 years ago & i still got the orignal engine LOL
