Default Shock absorbers for lowering...

Hello all.
I have a mk4 escort estate and I’m looking for a 40mm drop. I have found a nice set of lowering springs but I’m unsure of the shocks? Can I use the standard ones or do I need aftermarket ones with 40mm less travel. Or, can the original ones be modified?
Also is there anything else to replace when lowering. The car is sitting on 14 inch alloys.
Thanks

You should be fine with the standard shocks, anymore than 40mm and the spring may be too short and thats an MOT fail so you would need shortened shocks. As long as your shocks, bushes etc are in decent condition you are good to go
