was talking about an uprated torque converter. ive never heard of that before . is that something worth looking at for the 1/4 mile?
also I read an ebay add that mentioned a remap on an automatic transmission.thats something else ive never heard of but then ive never had an auto before. …. is that just ebay shite though?

Gearbox remaps definitely a thing, Mrc do them for the rs6 makes a big difference, if you have flappy paddles it allows changes to happen instantly etc, changes the gear change point as well.
My mate was going to sell his AMG gullwing as the shifts were slurred and slow, Merc put him in touch with AMG in Germany and they invited him over and tailored the shifts to Black series spec and he loved it. That was just an ECU remap.

I have the same 7g tronic auto box that's in the c63 amg merc but without the paddles but you can go up and down the box manually by clicking the auto stick left and right . I think ill look into it.

a google search brings up quite a lot , it seems it is definitely a thing even for my box without the paddles !
Gearbox TCU remapping offers the following additional benefits over and above our engine ecu remapping:
>> Additional power and torque by relaxing the gearbox torque limiters.
>> Lightening quick gear shifts along with smoother gear shifting.
>> Faster reaction to tiptronic or paddle shift inputs (where fitted).
>> Improved low speed and off the line response through earlier torque convertor locking.
>> Increased fuel efficiency on some transmissions due to less power loss through the drivetrain.

The box in the Evoque is 9 speed, it just gets in to the torque and shifts through with not a huge drop in revs, I have been very impressed with the immediate kick down but today it seemed to have a delay when going from slow to fast that was not there before but I think that as it is under 1000 miles old it is still learning my driving style (lack of)

People seem to talk about auto box remaps a fair bit on the bmw forums I'm on. They also seem to talk a lot about servicing the auto boxes when they get to around 80k - 100k even though bmw say the oil is for the life of the car. The oil is very expensive and it's advised to change the sump and mechatronic sleeve as well. I think you buy it all in a kit. They say it can make quite a difference when done and is really good for prolonging the life of the box and giving it a trouble free life.
My 330d has done around 85k now so as soon as funds permit I'll be getting mine serviced.

Given the simplicity....or complexity of a TC, of course there are hundreds...if not thousands of possible options and ways they can be constructed to achieve different things.
So uprated...different..other...whatever really.

The thing that bugs me is that they rebuild something like an engine but they don’t strip and paint any parts going back on...I at least have to clean the parts but if there is rust on something going back on it must be stripped, treated and painted
defo that’s why simple things take ages lol
i would, the warranty you would get would be better than any garage.....the car would be spot on or they would be repairing it, they really wouldn’t want any bad publicity plus the fact the tv company would be liable for it all.

May as well get it serviced. Just a filter and oil. Nothing big.
