Default Windscreen crack and MOT?

Afternoon all, my work are auctioning off their old work van and I might have a punt on it. MoT runs out on Oct and there is a big crack in the windscreen but not in the drivers view as you look over the top of it.

Anyway, is this likely to fail the MoT?

Cheers.

Pass and advise most likely. If it's not in drivers view.

as drivers wiper touches it (a zone) it should fail as over the legal size but a friendly MOT tester may well just give you advisory

Even though its over 10mm in zone id say thats a pass and advise as it looks like that crack doesn't significantly affects the driver’s view of the road

its not all about vision it also is weak point on the screen as glass forms part of structure of car on bonded glass so its down to testers judgement so could go either way

Pass and advise if its not in the View of the road what ever zone its in chaps.

From the manual.

To inspect the condition of glass:
  1. Sit in the driver's seat.
  2. Check the view of the road.
  3. Check the view of mandatory external mirrors.
Check for:
  • damage in windscreen zone A more than 10mm in diameter
  • damage in the remainder of the windscreen's swept area more than 40mm in diameter
  • damage to windows on either side of the driver's seat
  • excessive tinting or discolouration of the windscreen or windows on either side of the driver's seat
Failure for damage is only justified if the damage significantly affects the driver’s view of the road. You don't need to consider the effects on tall or short drivers.
